With global energy demand on the rise, nuclear power — a low-carbon energy source for sustainable development — continues to play an important role in the energy mix of many countries. Global nuclear capacity is expected to grow, resulting in an increased demand for Agency services to support nuclear infrastructure development. In 2023, there were 27 Member States considering, planning or implementing a new nuclear power programme.
