On September 11, 2021, China's first high-level radioactive waste liquid glass curing facility was officially put into operation in Guangyuan, Sichuan. This is a landmark project at the back end of my country's nuclear industry chain. Its commissioning indicates that my country has achieved a breakthrough in the treatment capacity of high-level waste liquid, and has become one of the few countries in the world with high-level waste liquid glass solidification technology. The safe and green development of the industry is a milestone.

Radioactive waste treatment is the last link in the safe utilization of nuclear energy, among which the most difficult and technical content is the treatment of high-level waste liquid. Previously, only the United States, France, Germany and other countries in the world have mastered the relevant technology. The project was approved by the National Atomic Energy Agency in 2004 and adopted an international cooperation model. It was jointly designed by China and Germany. China Nuclear Sichuan Environmental Protection Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China National Nuclear Corporation, was responsible for the construction, and many units participated in collaborative research. Through this project, we have found out the working mechanism of key equipment, solidified the process system parameters, and accumulated rich experience in glass curing key special materials and key equipment.

In 2014, Shandong Beichen undertook part of the equipment manufacturing of the project. After four years of unremitting efforts and technological research, the products were successfully delivered in 2018, and the technology and quality level reached the approval of Party A. In the next step, Shandong Beichen will continue to implement the important instructions of General Secretary Jin Ping "taking nuclear environmental protection as the starting point and contributing more wisdom to global innovation and development", improve its own level, and contribute to "carbon peak and carbon neutrality.
