Suffing box heat exchanger

A stuffing box heat exchanger is a shell and tube heat exchanger in which one end of the tube bundle is fixed to the tube sheet and the other end is sealed with an external stuffing box between the shell and the tube bundle. Since the tube bundle can be freely expanded and contracted, no temperature difference stress will be generated between the tube bundle and the shell.

  • 产品描述
  • 1. Overview

Due to the use of a stuffing box sealing structure, the tube bundle can be freely expanded and contracted in the axial direction of the shell, and no thermal stress caused by the thermal deformation difference between the shell wall and the tube wall will be generated. Its structure is simpler than that of a floating head heat exchanger, and it is easy to process and manufacture, save materials, and has a relatively low cost. In addition, the tube bundle can be pulled out of the shell, and the inside and between the tubes can be cleaned, which is convenient for maintenance.

Because the packing is prone to leakage, the stuffing box heat exchanger is generally suitable for working conditions below 4MPa, and is not suitable for volatile, flammable, explosive, toxic and precious media. The operating temperature is also limited by the physical properties of the packing. Stuffing box heat exchangers are rarely used.

    3. Advantages and disadvantages

The advantages are simple structure, easy manufacturing, easy maintenance and cleaning.

The disadvantage is that the shell fluid may leak, so the use pressure and temperature are limited. The shell should not be used for volatile, flammable, explosive and toxic media.

    4. Application areas

4.1. Petroleum and chemical industry: gas absorption, chemical reaction temperature control, solvent recovery.

4.2. Waste gas treatment: waste gas cooling, acid gas absorption.

4.3. Environmental protection: flue gas desulfurization, wastewater treatment.

4.4. Food and pharmaceutical industry: solvent recovery, liquid heating and cooling.

4.5. Energy recovery: waste heat recovery.
